Solar System Upgrade In Perth
If you find that your solar system is just not working the way it used to or that you need a little more power, it could be that your system needs upgrading!

Instead, our upgrade services are built around the idea of enhancing your current set-up, improving energy production and efficiency while also helping you to lower your energy bills. If you do replace old panels, our solar panel recycling and disposal guide explains what happens to them in WA.

Solar system enhancements
At Talk Energy, our solar experts are on hand to conduct a wide range of solar system enhancements. This includes:
Installing additional panels
Installing additional panels is the easiest way to increase energy production. This is great news if you’ve noticed that your energy usage has increased since your system was installed or if you want to cut down on your energy bills. After all, it means you’re generating more energy independently, reducing your reliance on the grid.
Installing a new inverter
Over time, you may find that your inverter (the part of your system responsible for converting the current in your system to usable energy) no longer works as effectively. Installing a new inverter can help to enhance your system’s energy yield, and prevent future outages or complications.
Replacing your battery
Your solar system battery stores energy for use at a later date. When it is not working effectively, this could mean that you are without power at inopportune times. Fortunately, we’re on hand to replace the battery to ensure this does not happen again!
Adding a battery to your existing solar system
Most Perth solar systems can have a battery added. The main decision is whether your current inverter stays or is replaced with a hybrid inverter. Talk Energy installs Sigenergy SigenStor, whose energy controller is a hybrid inverter.
What we check first
- The age and condition of your current inverter.
- Whether your home is single-phase or three-phase, and space in your switchboard.
- Western Power’s limits: in the Perth metro area, solar and battery inverters can total up to 30 kVA, and exports are limited to 1.5 kW, or up to 5 kW with a retailer agreement.
- Rebate eligibility: the battery must be on your retailer’s Supported Solutions List and you join a Virtual Power Plant for the WA battery rebate.
What it costs
As a rough guide, most Perth homes pay around $9,500–$13,000 for a ~10 kWh battery before rebates in 2026, or about $5,500–$9,000 after the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and the WA Residential Battery Scheme. Larger 13–16 kWh batteries sit around $13,000–$18,000 before rebates. Your price depends on battery size, whether you need a new hybrid inverter and how complex the install is.
