Solar Installation Process Perth: How Long Does It Take?
Solar Installation Process in Perth: How Long Does It Take?
Understanding the solar installation process helps you plan and sets realistic expectations. From your initial enquiry to generating clean energy, here is exactly what happens at each stage and how Talk Energy manages the process for Perth homeowners.
Talk Energy has completed over 1,000 solar and battery installations across Perth and has streamlined every step of the process to minimise delays.
Stage 1: Site Assessment and Custom Design
Talk Energy begins with a detailed site assessment. We review your energy bills, inspect your roof orientation and condition, check for shading, assess your electrical switchboard, and discuss your energy goals. Using this information, our engineers design a custom system optimised for your property. This stage takes 1-3 business days.
Stage 2: Detailed Quote and System Selection
You receive a detailed proposal including the recommended system size, panel and inverter brands, expected annual generation, estimated savings, and total cost including the STC rebate. Talk Energy walks you through every detail so you can make an informed decision. We never use high-pressure sales tactics.
Stage 3: Western Power Approval
Before installation, Western Power must approve your grid connection application. Talk Energy prepares and submits all Western Power paperwork on your behalf. This process typically takes 5-10 business days. We submit the application as soon as you approve the quote to minimise the overall timeline. For more details, see our installation process page.
Stage 4: Installation Day
On installation day, Talk Energy’s in-house licensed electricians arrive in the morning with all equipment. The process includes mounting the racking system on your roof, installing solar panels, mounting and wiring the inverter, connecting all electrical components, installing the battery if applicable, and testing the entire system. Most residential installations are completed in a single day. You can be home during installation but it is not required.
Stage 5: Inspection and Grid Connection
After installation, a compliance inspection confirms everything meets Australian standards. Western Power then activates your grid connection and installs or reconfigures your bi-directional meter. Once connected, you start generating savings immediately and can monitor your system’s performance through the monitoring app Talk Energy sets up for you.
